The Motor Vehicle Technician will service and repair motor vehicles in modern workshops, using the most up to date diagnostic equipment.
The Person
Apprentices wishing to make a career in either specialism, as a Body Repair or Paint Refinishing Technician, are expected to achieve good GCSE grades in Maths, English and Science (preferably A-C). In addition the ability to communicate well and work as a member of a team is essential. Body Repair Technicians require a good mechanical aptitude; Paint Refinishing Technicians require artistic flair and both specialisms need the ability to learn how to work with modern materials and paint.
Career Progression
All successful applicants will commence employment and training as Apprentices, leading to an NVQ 2 with a Technical Certificate and Key Skills. All Apprentices will aim to achieve NVQ Level 3, Technical Diploma and Key Skills leading to an Advanced Apprenticeship Certificate approved by the Institute of The Motor Industry. During the apprenticeship learners may be given specialist product training, by attending manufacturers training courses. Following achievement of the above, a number of career and qualifications are available
