All organisations rely heavily on IT as a tool and this course is a starting point for many different careers in IT. You will be given training to operate a wide range of the latest software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. You will also learn how to install and customise software applications and be given knowledge on how to build and fix general computer and print faults. Click here (PDF) for a breakdown of the NVQ.

This course is for individuals who:

When you join the training course you will complete an intensive 6 week training programme covering computer theory and practical skills and this will help you on your way to becoming an IT expert user and increase your confidence in IT. After this you will receive on the job training either within a training area at the ITeC or with an employer. This will enable you to collect evidence from your workplace for your NVQ portfolio and will prove you are capable of doing the job.

In addition to the NVQ you will also work towards Key Skills at the appropriate level. These are skills that are essential in any career path. On all courses you will follow a nationally recognised training and development path which is set by the National Training Organisation for your Apprenticeship framework.

Once you have completed your NVQ L2 in IT you will have the opportunity to progress on to the Advanced Apprenticeship where you will work toward your NVQ L3 in IT and a technical certificate. This is currently the OCR Advanced Clait.
