Fabrication and Welding NVQ

Introduction
The School of Fabrication and Welding is based at Hull Tec's Orchard Park Campus. With its own dedicated workshop facilities, there is space for all students to undertake individual training and work on group projects in an authentic manufacturing environment.

As with most other programmes at Hull Tec, your training will focus upon work-based learning and we can help you get work placements or longer-term assignments with local employers

You can choose from either an apprenticeship or advanced apprenticeship in fabrication and welding. Subject to your existing qualifications and ability, we can help you select a training programme which best meets your intending career path.

Apprenticeship
Duration: 21 months
Entry requirements: Aged 16-24 years.
Interview and basic skills assessment.
Framework content: Key Skills (Levels 1 & 2),
NVQ (Level 2) & Technical Certificate (Level 2).

Advanced Apprenticeship
Duration: 22 - 42 months
Entry requirements: Aged 16-24 years.
Interview and basic skills assessment.
Framework content: Key Skills (Level 2), NVQ (Level 2&3) & Technical Certificate (Level 3)

Technical Certificate - Level 3: Advanced Diploma in Engineering Technology
Engineering & environmental health & safety
Engineering organisational efficiency & improvement
Pattern development
Manual metal-arc (MMA) welding
Metal inert gas / metal active gas
(MIG/MAG) welding
Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding
Sheetmetal & plate fabrications
Note: The above multi-skilled qualifications may also be combined with other Electrical or Mechanical Engineering modules.
