There is a world outside of 'COD4' and 'Guitar Hero', pick up a real guitar, it's probably cheaper.
Of course there is a world outside of Guitar Hero and COD4, there's Bioshock, Mass Effect, Left 4 Dead, etc. Plus, you give me a real-life, cheaper version where I can get in the situation of fighting my way through an underwater world called Rapture or blowing the infected hordes' heads off and I can see your point. The fact is, there isn't. That's why games make so much money. They take you into stories, worlds and concepts that we aren't able to physically enter in our time or situation.
As well as that, I do actually play guitar. Doesn't stop me picking up the guitar and playing through a song on Rock Band when I fancy it. It's just a different aspect of it. Are you sure you agree with what you say about not supporting the "corporation giants" if you get a real-life instrument and learn to play? One of the main industries/corporations in the world is the media - music is a form of media. Along with that, most guitars nowadays are branded (Les Paul, Fender, Epiphone, Squier, BC Rich, Jackson, Rickenbacher, Yamaha, Tanglewood, Takamine) so, unless you're making your own guitar, you're "supporting the corporation giants poison the world with possessive instincts". Adding to that, if you do decide to get a guitar made from scratch, no doubt the shop you go in will charge you for it, and they will probably end up spending it on something that "supports the corporation giants".
I'm not saying it's a good thing, but there's nothing you can do nowadays that doesn't support industries/businesses/corporations that, in the be all and end all of it, all want you to have possessive instincts so that they can make money.
Just so you know, as well, I'm not getting into an argument or having a go. I'm just discussing views. Surely that's what forums are about?
Wow, I wrote more than I thought I was going to.
fletcher_tom, if you're getting bored of GTA then Heavy Rain looks good for PS3. I'm a 360 diehard but I've seen a few games lately that have made me think about getting a PS3.
At the minute I'm playing Mass Effect 2 and Assassin's Creed 2 as well as a few multiplayer games like L4D2, Army of Two: 40th Day and FIFA10 every now and then.
Anyone else looking forward to the new Final Fantasy?
